West-Plex Youth Group

Our youth group meets every Wednesday evening from 6:30-8:30 PM. We spend time together enjoying fun activities, eating food, worshiping God through songs, praying for each other, and applying God's Word to our lives. Teens ages 12 through 18 are welcome to attend!

Youth trip to Guatemala

Seven youth and their leader left June 19, 2007 on a trip to Central America for a mission project of constructing a youth outreach facility in the city of Patsum, Guatemala. They were joined by the Youth Group from Chapel of the Lake, Lake St. Louis, on the three week trip.

Bible Thon

The West-Plex Youth Group held a Bible Thon in March 2007 to raise funds for their summer missions trip to Guatemala. Preceding the start of the 24-hour non-stop Bible reading session, Jaimie Fales, Communications Manager from Child Evangelism Fellowship, led a service to encourage and inspire the 10-15 teens about what they were about to encounter as they started in Genesis and read for an entire day.

Jaimie demonstrated several visuals to depict descriptions from the Word about the Bible:

Elder Myron Tschetter had each teen bring his/her Bible to the front of the church and he stacked them up and then prayed that each reader would be inspired by God's Word in a fresh, new way because of their commitment to participate in the Bible Thon.

Teams of 2 took hourly vigils to read aloud. They were able to read to I Kings. Next year the group will start at that place and continue to effort to read the entire Bible as a Youth Group, according to Youth Leader Tim Sommer.
